St. Mark's Family Medicine Residency

St. Mark's Family Medicine Residency is an innovative, state-of-the-art residency program located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our unique program features Clinic Every Day™, where residents see their own patients in their continuity clinic five days per week, allowing them to build lasting relationships with patients throughout residency. As an independent, community-based program with no university or corporate affiliation, our small class size of just four residents per year fosters close relationships with faculty and community physicians.

St. Mark’s Family Medicine Residency consistently ranks among the top programs nationwide for American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) examination scores, achieving the #1 national ranking in 2025. This consistent academic excellence reflects the strength of our training program and our commitment to preparing residents for success.

The Utah HealthCare Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is proud to serve as the program’s institutional sponsor. While the residency program bears the St. Mark's name and works closely with St. Mark's Hospital, it operates independently of any corporate or religious entity. The Institute is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of our community through graduate medical education and providing quality health care. Hospital rotations take place at St. Mark's Hospital and Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). 

Utah HealthCare Institute and St. Mark’s Family Medicine Residency are eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
